Health

Your veterinarian is your primary resource for maintaining the health and well being of your pet. It is important that you establish a friendly relationship with the doctor as well as the staff. How you react and interact with them will directly affect your pet’s behavior towards them. For example, if your pet is receiving a vaccination and you handle her with tension, your pet will sense this and react the same way. Instead, act cheerful and upbeat, in a matter of fact way. Should your pet act fearful or shy don’t sooth or coddle her. This will only reinforce the behavior.

Training and Behavior

At the heart of your success is the need for an understanding that our canine friends communicate very differently than people. The key to getting the most out of your relationship with your pet is creating a consistent means of communication that is well received and understood by your dog. In addition, having everyone “on-board” with this special language will lead to a well behaved, beloved, special family member. Training by Brian Kilcommons will teach you how to accomplish this in a fun and logical manner.

Identification

In today’s chaotic world the chances of being separated from your beloved pet are greater than ever. Be it natural disaster or a pet running off, the anxiety associated with the loss is awful. Setting your pet up with identification is the best way of assuring that when you become separated you can be reunited. There are four types of identification for dogs: microchips, GPS tracking, collar tags and tattooing. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and no one method offers complete protection.

Nutrition

It is often said that we are what we eat. This statement speaks volumes when it comes to our pets. The impact diet and exercise will have on your pet is directly proportionate to the quality of life she will experience. As her owner you owe it to her to provide a balance between good diet and proper exercise. Failure to do so can often lead to unnecessary medical issues as well as behavior problems.
